Diagnostic Assessment of Arterial Lactate Clearance as Predictor of Mortality of Severe Sepsis Patients in Intensive Care Unit

Abstract: ICU mortality rates in severe sepsis remains high; objective instrument to determine disease severity and to predict mortality in ICU patients with severe sepsis is needed. Arterial lactate has become one of the simple and inexpensive marker in the ICU to assess disease severity and prediction of mortality in critically ill patients compared to APACHE II score that requires a lot of expensive laboratory tests and costs.
