“…overall, the accuracy of eus fna in these indications is between 85% and 97%. [4][5][6][7] Recurrences of CRC arise from residual tumor cells in the perirectal fat or lymph nodes missed at surgery. as a consequence, they are usually found in the anastomosis or in the surrounding tissue and can be easily targeted by eus fna.…”

“…It can be used to confirm the existence of a pNEN and to provide prognostic information by the determination of the Ki67 index and tissue grading (Larghi et al 2012, Rindi et al 2012, Farrell et al 2014. In two previous meta-analyses, a pooled sensitivity up to 86% and a specificity of 95% for the correct pathology in solid pancreatic lesions in non-MEN1 patients was reported (Chen et al 2013, Puli et al 2013). In the setting of MEN1, however, there is no role for routine use of EUS-FNA, since it is obvious that any lesion in the pancreas will be most likely a pNEN.…”

“…On a recent meta-analysis of 31 articles, this procedure showed an area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve value of 0.97 indicating a good performance and high overall accuracy [38]. This technique is not only useful in obtaining tissue for cytology or histology, lately the use of molecular markers coupled with EUS-FNA to improve its accuracy is under investigation.…”
