“…Wharton et a!28reviewed their experience with micro invasive carcinoma of the vulva in an at tempt to answer this question. In a study of 25 patients with lesions smaller than two cm in diameter and with five mm or less of stromal invasion, they found neither posi tive lymph nodes in 10 patients who had lymphadenectomy nor any deaths due to cancer in the entire series. Wharton et al concluded from this that microinvasive car cinoma of the vulva is a definable stage and that this group of patients may be treated by conservative surgery consisting of radi cal vulvectomy alone.…”
