Abstract:The antiphospholipid syndrome is characterized by thromboembolic events and/or recurrent miscarriages in the presence of anticardiolipin antibodies and/or a lupus anticoagulant. Anticardiolipin antibodies are detected by ELISA whereas lupus anticoagulant detection includes a variety of coagulometric tests.
