Abstract:Circulating CD34+ hematopoietic stem progenitor cells (HSPCs) stimulate vasculogenesis and play an important role in the ischemic vascular repair. Long‐term diabetes is associated with impaired vasculogenic potential of HSPCs, which is at least in part due to decreased nitric oxide (NO) generation. Transforming growth factor‐ β1 (TGF‐β1) has pleiotropic functions in CD34+ HSPCs and is known to stimulate the expression of matrix protein thrombospondin‐1 (TSP‐1). Previous studies have shown that transient silenc… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
