“…The risk for those diagnosed as having diabetes mellitus within the last 5 years of cancer is elevated almost 6-fold. The development of diabetes as a symptom of pancreas cancer has been recognized in previous studies (Hargrove et al, 1960;Kessler, 1970;Wynder et al, 1973;Whittemore et al, 1983;Hiatt et al, 1988;Cuzick and Babiker, 1989), though no such association has been found in some case-control studies (Lin and Kessler, 1981;Gold et al, 1985;Mack et al, 1986).
