Abstract

The flux path of the on-off type solenoid, the model of the electro-pneumatic brake valvePurpose: Investigation using of on-off type solenoid driven by PWM technique instead of proportional solenoid in an electro-pneumatic brake valve system. Theory and Methods:Based on the present operating conditions of the system, the dynamic characteristics of the designed on-off type solenoid valve are obtained by using finite elements by ANSYS/Maxwell and model based design methods by MATLAB/ Simulink. The results obtained from both methods are consistent with each other. Electro-pneumatic brake valve system is driven by DGM technique and the proportional working behavior of the system is investigated by working with model based design method. Results:Dynamic behavior and PWM characteristics of an electro-pneumatic brake valve system for different operating conditions are presented with using finite element and model based design methods. Conclusion:It has been seen that proportional output can be obtained from electro-pneumatic brake valve outlet by using on-off type soleonid driven by PWM signals according to the frequencies determined by considering opening and closing times of the solenoid valve.
