DFSS and Robust Optimization Tool for Multibody System with Random Variables

Abstract: This study presents the DFSS optimization for the dynamic responses of a paper feeding mechanism. The flexible paper is idealized as a series of rigid bars connected by revolute joints and rotational spring dampers. In this mechanism, a paper is fed by a contact and friction mechanism on rollers or guides. The design objective is to minimize the slip amounts between paper and mechanisms and satisfy the 6-sigma constraint for the nip forces of rollers. In order to avoid the difficulty of design sensitivity anal… Show more

“…And discrepancy of variables in the neighborhood of the current solution will lead to fluctuation of the deviation, which will increase the number of iterations and so forth. Kriging model is appropriate for high nonlinear problem with better comprehensive performance, high approximation accuracy, and high robustness [20][21][22]. Moreover, fewer sample points also can get higher precision approximation model.…”

“…Gao et al (2020) studied a design optimization problem of a crank-slider mechanism, where robustness against increase of joint clearances and uncertainties of design variables is considered. Kim et al (2007) proposed a six-sigma design method for a paper feeding mechanism, where the mechanism involves frictional contacts between paper and rollers. Also, reliability-based design optimization of structures subjected to contact conditions was studied by Park et al (2000) and Cui et al (2003).…”
