DFPI-based Control of the DC-bus Voltage and the AC-side Current of a Shunt Active Power Filter

Abstract: The current paper presents a continuation of an earlier research and purposes to enhance the performances of the studied system. While the double fuzzy PI (DFPI) control was applied only on the DC capacitor bus in a previous work it is applied here also on the output current of shunt active power filter (SAPF). The nonlinear load disrupts the electrical distribution system by the generation of harmonics, which requires an efficient SAPF intervention to minimize the effects of harmonics on the network and provi… Show more

“…Also active power filters are used to improve power quality of the AC/DC converters. The highly distorted waveforms due to resonance may perhaps produce mal-operation of the protection devices, electromagnetic communication interference, increase tempreture of transformers, vibration, and overloading of power factor correction capacitors [13]- [17]. Due to rise demand of electrical trains and increase power dememands, harmonics resonance pollution has become a main interest in both power system quality and renewable enegy sources.…”

“…In developing the extraction algorithm, many methods have been studied and applied whether in time or frequency based domains. In frequency based domain, the techniques used are ranging from fast Fourier and discrete Fourier series [2][3][4][5], Kalman filtering [6][7][8] and wavelet transformation [9]. However, working in the frequency domain is a little tedious as it involves transformation of information into frequency domain.…”
