BACKGROUNDSpinal anaesthesia is the most commonly used neuraxial anaesthetic technique for caesarean section as it is easy to perform, has accuracy rate higher than epidural anaesthesia, and procedure takes less time to perform and provides simple, effective and safe analgesia during perioperative period. Addition of various drugs to local anaesthetics reduces the dose requirement of the local anaesthetic, prolongs sensory and motor blockade and also prolongs the postoperative analgesia. Aims and objectives: In this study, we compare the quality of motor and sensory block and the duration of analgesia produced by intrathecal bupivacaine heavy alone and in combination with fentanyl or dexmedetomidine.
