Device for online monitoring of insulation faults in high-voltage switchgears

Abstract: Partial discharges are the major cause of deterioration in the insulation characteristics of switchgears. Therefore, timely detection of partial discharge in switchgear and potential insulation faults is an urgent problem that needs to be addressed in the power supervision industry. In this study, a device was proposed for online monitoring of high-voltage switchgears based on pulse current method and ozone (O3) detection. The pulse current method obtains the PD signal by monitoring the phase holes on the swit… Show more

“…This technology has the advantages of good application effect, low equipment cost, no secondary pollution, and so on. At present, the treatment of wastewater by the highvoltage pulse discharge method is at the laboratory level, and its industrial application is less [13]. Several units have carried out high-voltage pulse discharge technology research.…”

“…When partial discharge occurs, the voltage across the coupling capacitor drops abruptly. At this time, partial discharge can be detected by measuring the voltage pulse generated by the discharge current flowing through an impedance [7,8]. This method is mainly used to detect voltage signals within 10 MHz with a high detection accuracy, but it is susceptible to electromagnetic interference.…”

“…According to statistics, nearly 50% of switchgear accidents are caused by insulation deterioration [4,5]. Therefore, online partial discharge (PD) diagnosis and early warning of insulation failures in high-voltage switchgears are key to maintaining electrical safety [6,7].…”
