Développement socio-économique du littoral catalan / Socio-economic development of the Catalan coast (Spain)

Abstract

This article analyses recent changes on the Catalan coast, a band of territory which has been subject to heavy social and economic activity over the past few decades. A possible explanatory model is proposed for the territorial structure of the Catalan coast and some guidelines concerning the spatial planning of this area as a framework for sustainable economic development, the unique challenge of the future, are cultived.
