Development, yield and quality attributes of sugarcane cultivars fertigated by subsurface drip irrigation

Abstract: The present study aimed to evaluate the development, yield and quality of four sugarcane cultivars fertigated by subsurface drip system. The experiment was carried out in Campinas-SP, Brazil, from January 2012 to November 2013, with the cultivars SP79-1011, IACSP94-2101, IACSP94-2094 and IACSP95-5000 subjected to daily irrigations. The irrigations depths were applied to bring soil moisture to field capacity. Soil moisture was monitored using soil moisture probes. Samples were collected along the crop cycle in … Show more

“…A field experiment was carried out with the sugarcane ( Saccharum spp.) varieties IACSP95-5000 and IACSP94-2094, two commercial varieties with differential biomass production and yield (Silva et al., 2016). IACSP95-5000 presents high yield in non-restrictive environments (Cruz et al., 2021), while IACSP94-2094 is considered rustic and drought-resistant and indicated for less favourable environments (Sales et al., 2013).…”

“…Combinations of sugarcane cultivars without water restriction and with water restriction in their respective cultivation cycles should be studied to ensure farmers high yield levels and maintain the economic sustainability of the system. In this context, Silva et al (2016) stated that some cultivars have greater productive potential when under irrigated conditions. Leal et al (2017) reinforced the need for studies combining different sugarcane genotypes in varied production environments and crop cycles.…”
