“…Therefore, as the CCKNOW was inappropriate to investigate the relationship between disease-related knowledge and medical acceleration, we employed the IBD-KNOW questionnaire, which is an updated measurement tool regarding several items including biologics and vaccination. [12] We thus also hope that further studies will now be conducted using the IBD-KNOW.…”

“…However, knowledge levels regarding IBD were shown to be independent of the disease duration in a previous study and our analysis. [11,12] Another limitation was that we employed a relatively short follow-up duration and could not evaluate the long-term outcomes associated with medical acceleration. Further studies with longer follow-up durations and more events will be needed.…”

“…Five studies were identified that measured general IBD knowledge in adults (Table 1); the Knowledge Questionnaire (KQ) [44], the Crohn's and Colitis Knowledge Score (CC-KNOW) [25], Inflammatory Bowel Disease Knowledge (IBD-KNOW) [45], the IBD-knowledge questionnaire Catalonia (QUECOMIICAT) [46] and a short questionnaire by Keegan et al [47]. These assessment tools may be appropriate for adolescents but have not been validated in younger children and contain complex items, alongside topics such as pregnancy and smoking that may be inappropriate to ask young children.…”

“…43 Additional support can increase patients' IBD knowledge, help address feelings of isolation, identify strategies to cope with setbacks, and improve treatment adherence. 23,46 APPs have a role in advocating for patients and facilitating patient-physician communication. 1 Despite 98% of IBD patients considering it important that they be involved in the decisionmaking process, 21 patients report frustration at the lack of collaborative long-term goal setting with physicians treating their IBD.…”
