Development of Wearable Wireless Electrocardiogram Detection System using Bluetooth Low Energy

Abstract: Wearable monitoring devices can provide patients and doctors with the capability to measure bio-signals on demand. These systems provide enormous benefits for people with acute symptoms of serious health conditions. In this paper, we propose a novel method for collecting ECG signals using two wireless wearable modules. The electric potential measured from a sub-module is transferred to the main module through Bluetooth Low Energy, and the collected values are simultaneously displayed in the form of a graph. “…Typically, a pair of conductive silver/silver chloride electrodes are integrated into flexible three‐electrode system to prepare wearable “tattoos” and “patches” based on screen printing technology. Then, wireless transmission devices, such as WiFi, 139 Bluetooth, 27 and NFC module, 140 are integrated and transmit signals to the terminals (e.g., laptops, computers, and mobile phones) for continuous tracking and monitoring changes in electrical signals. According to the principle of signal change, the electrochemical response signal includes current, potential, and electrical impedance.…”

“…Moreover, these systems lack portability and were designed for very specific target populations, eliminating most of the general population. Even though there are several existing research projects that present portable ECG monitoring solutions with Bluetooth compatibility, the majority of these projects use conventional electrodes [11][12][13][14]. Lastly, previous implementations have encountered many issues with power consumption.…”

“…In this study, it has a drawback, namely the absence of a memory card for data storage, the advantage of this tool is that it is made portable and compact so that it can be carried and used at various times. [19][3][20] [16]. In 2021, Rizki Aulia Rachman conducted a study about development of a low-cost and efficient ECG devices with IIR digital filter design.…”
