PurposePrefabricated technology is gradually being applied to the construction of subway stations due to its characteristic of mechanization. However, the prefabricated subway station in China is in the initial stage of development, which is prone to construction safety issues. This study aims to evaluate the construction safety risks of prefabricated subway stations in China and formulate corresponding countermeasures to ensure construction safety.Design/methodology/approachA construction safety risk evaluation index system for the prefabricated subway station was established through literature research and the Delphi method. Furthermore, based on the structure entropy weight method, matter-element theory and evidence theory, a hybrid evaluation model is developed to evaluate the construction safety risks of prefabricated subway stations. The basic probability assignment (BPA) function is obtained using the matter-element theory, the index weight is calculated using the structure entropy weight method to modify the BPA function and the risk evaluation level is determined using the evidence theory. Finally, the reliability and applicability of the evaluation model are verified with a case study of a prefabricated subway station project in China.FindingsThe results indicate that the level of construction safety risks in the prefabricated subway station project is relatively low. Man risk, machine risk and method risk are the key factors affecting the overall risk of the project. The evaluation results of the first-level indexes are discussed, and targeted countermeasures are proposed. Therefore, management personnel can deeply understand the construction safety risks of prefabricated subway stations.Originality/valueThis research fills the research gap in the field of construction safety risk assessment of prefabricated subway stations. The methods for construction safety risk assessment are summarized to establish a reliable hybrid evaluation model, laying the foundation for future research. Moreover, the construction safety risk evaluation index system for prefabricated subway stations is proposed, which can be adopted to guide construction safety management.

Three-dimensional (3D) geological models can visually present various underground geological body forms, geological structures, geological hazards, which is of great significance for urban spatial planning and urban geological hazard prevention and control. To overcome technical difficulties such as poor accuracy, poor aesthetics and the difficulty to modify and improve the model afterwards, the 3D model of urban geology under complex geological conditions was constructed. This paper proposes a 3D modeling technology for urban geology with multiple complex geological structures based on multi-source heterogeneous data with the common constraints of geological priori knowledge and geological laws. This technique can utilize various modeling data, such as DEM data, planimetric geological maps, comprehensive geological profiles, borehole data, geophysical interpretation data and tectonic outline maps. Under the common constraints of geological prior knowledge and geological laws, the block modeling technique is used to complete the construction of 3D urban geological models under complex geological conditions. Taking the construction of 3D geological model in Chengdu as an example, this paper focuses on the theory and algorithm of 3D modeling of urban geology, the geological background of the demonstration area, the preparation and pre-processing of 3D modeling data, and the research and demonstration application of 3D modeling technology for urban geology. The construction of a 3D geological model of Chengdu was completed using a 3D modeling technology of a multi-complex urban geological structure.

The utilization and development of urban underground space play a crucial role in optimizing the layout of civic architecture and enhancing the urban ecological environment, which contributes toward increasing the overall carrying capacity and promoting sustainable development in megacities. To delve into the research progress of urban underground space, knowledge maps were created using the information visualization software VOSviewer. The literature was systematically extracted from three prominent databases, namely, Web of Science, Scopus, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure. According to the bibliometric analysis of the co‐citation and core words co‐occurrence, the trends and challenges of research on urban underground space were identified. As highlighted by the results obtained, it still remains highly challenging to achieve interdisciplinary collaboration in urban underground space research; the research trends of urban underground space consist of collaborative planning and whole life cycle sustainable development, multisource geological data informatization and resource evaluation, infrastructure design optimization, and intelligent construction. The knowledge map, drawn using bibliometric methods, offers a quantitative analysis of literature retrieval across various levels. It is recognized as an essential tool for exploring and identifying challenges and trends in urban underground space.
