“…Because the literature shows that older people associate a very high cost with having to change buses (Nitta 1998) we further analyzed how many bus stops outside each subject's own postcode district can be reached directly without transfers as a proxy for bus service quality. However, no correlation between this variable and higher bus usage was found, so that variable was dropped in the analysis described below.…”
