Development of the measurement method for challenging NLOS conditions in mobile networks

Abstract: Abstract-The aim of this paper is to introduce the measurement method for challenging Non-Line of Sight (NLOS) conditions in mobile networks. The need to develop the measurement method appeared LTE (Long Term Evolution) uplink (UL) performance with different antenna technologies when receiving NLOS signal in field tests. Many challenges appeared during the study. This paper introduces the challenges and presents solution.

“…Since the difference between moving and stationary measurements was particularly high at points MP 5 and MP 6 for the V4 configuration, these sites/methods were further studied. The results for MP 5 were presented in [6], while here, we consider those for MP 6. An example boxplot is given in Fig.6.…”

“…Garc et al [8] introduced antenna array measurements in near field with UAS. Heikkilä et al [9] presents study of the usage of UASs for site survey and antenna pattern measurements in-situ in mobile networks. These references showed the usability of UAS in the site survey measurements.…”

“…The effective use of dynamic modulation and a coding scheme results in high data rates and capacity when the UE is located near the eNB. To enhance communication performance via the use of spatial diversity and spatial multiplexing in data transmission, the Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) radio technology, which utilizes multiple antennas at both the transmitter and receiver, is used [13]. This technology has an impact on the RSRP pattern because the RSRP and Signal to Noise Ratio are proportional to each other on average.…”
