Development of shape optimization technique using mesh superposition method

Abstract: In shape optimization, an optimal shape is generated by moving some nodes of an initial mesh. But there are many cases that meshes can not follow the movement of nodes. In this paper, the shape optimization technique using mesh superposition method is proposed. In the present technique, the shape of design domain is represented by local mesh to allow flexible shape control.

“…It has been reported that in the mesh superposition method, the analytical results change significantly depending on the overlap of the global with local meshes 33 ; in contrast, it was confirmed in the single‐scale stress analysis that the fluctuation in stress distribution and maximum stress were improved by re‐analyzing only the local mesh 28 . The nodal displacement on normalΓitalicGL was obtained by the analysis of the mesh superposition method and used as the enforced displacement in the local mesh.…”
