Development of Scale to Measure Agripreneurs Attitude towards Entrepreneurial Climate

Abstract: Attitude plays a crucial role in influencing one’s behaviour with respect to a particular psychological object. To measure the attitude of farmers towards entrepreneurial climate for agrienterprise development, need was realized to devise a scale and a Likert’s Summated Rating scale was constructed by following the standard methodology suggested. Attitude towards entrepreneurial climate was categorized in six specific dimensions viz. Institutional factors, psychological factors, cognitive factors, managerial f… Show more

“…For relevancy analysis, the items were sent via email to 90 judges with instructions to critically evaluate each item for its relevance (Kumar et al, 2016;Kumar et al, 2021;Gupta et al, 2022) on a five-point continuum of highly relevant (HR), relevant (R), neutral (N), irrelevant (IR), and highly irrelevant (HIR). Out of 90 judges, 39 responded within a time frame of two months, while five judges' responses being rejected due to incomplete and ambiguous responses.…”

“…Scores were given for all these independent variables to assess their relationship with attitude (dependent variable). Also, in order to measure the farmers' attitude towards intercropping, various pre developed scales to measure the attitude (Kumar et al, 2015;Yadav et al, 2017;Shitu et al, 2018;Kumar et al, 2020;Gupta et al, 2022) were carefully studied they were given seventeen statements and the responses were obtained on a five-point continuum Likert-type (Thurston,1928) scale representing strongly disagree, disagree, neutral, agree, strongly agree. Further, all positive statements were given scores in order of 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 with 5 being strongly agree while 1 being strongly disagree whereas all negative statements were given score in the reverse order i.e., 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 with 1 being strongly agree and 5 being strongly disagree.…”

“…The reliability of the scale was measured by using Cronbach's Alpha and the reliability coefficient was found to be 0.80 which was satisfactory. A recent study on attitude scale construction by Gupta et al, (2022), mentioned that split half (odd-even) reliability testing method can also be used for assessing the reliability of the tools developed. Meeting all the criteria of scale reliability and validity, finally 25 items under 8 broad heads are considered to form a standardized attitude scale for assessing the attitude of farmers towards Conservation Agricultural practices in wheat.…”
