Development of Roadmap for Photovoltaic Solar Technologies and Market in Poland

Abstract: Poland is dynamically changing its energy mix. As a result of this process, solar energy is increasing its share in energy production. The development of the solar energy market is determined by numerous factors. This paper aims to develop a roadmap for further development of the photovoltaic (PV) energy market in Poland. The scope of the research covers five areas of PV technology and market development in Poland: (i) technology; (ii) power grids; (iii) law; (iv) economic conditions; and (v) social conditions… Show more

“…However, Poland is by far the largest country of the entire Visegrad Group, and if the number of inhabitants of individual countries is taken into account, these differences become blurred (Olczak & Komorowska, 2021). The Czech Republic and Slovakia in 2019 achieved the share of renewable energy planned for 2020, which may have contributed to the fact that the authorities of these countries were not willing to create conditions for the development of, among other things, photovoltaics (Duda et al, 2022). Possible penalties that could be imposed on Poland and Hungary for failure to achieve the assumed share of RES could constitute a serious burden for these countries.…”

“…Two of the biggest challenges of our time are tackling the climate and biodiversity crises [1]. In addressing the climate crisis, photovoltaics are considered one of the key technologies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions [2], which has led to the expansion of solar parks across Europe [3,4]. To address the biodiversity crisis, in particular the qualitative and quantitative decline of insects [5][6][7], solar farms offer great potential [8][9][10].…”
