Development of Perovskite-Type Materials for Thermoelectric Application

Abstract: Oxide perovskite materials have a long history of being investigated for thermoelectric applications. Compared to the state-of-the-art tin and lead chalcogenides, these perovskite compounds have advantages of low toxicity, eco-friendliness, and high elemental abundance. However, because of low electrical conductivity and high thermal conductivity, the total thermoelectric performance of oxide perovskites is relatively poor. Variety of methods were used to enhance the TE properties of oxide perovskite materials… Show more

“…This enforces to look on new materials to remove such kind of problems. The scientific body is busy in finding the specific alternatives (sources), which are eco‐friendly, cost‐effective, and highly efficient . Late back, it was predicted that quantum confinement for the charge carriers is responsible to enhance the thermoelectric efficiency.…”

“…The perovskites have been further updated into new class of materials called double perovskites (DPs) recognized by ordered formula A 2 BB′O 6 . Having their spectacular performance along with intriguing multidimensional novel application towards thermoelectric technology, they are the striking novel applicants due to their environment‐friendly, non‐toxic nature, lower processing cost compared with conventional chalcogenides, better oxidation resistance, and high‐temperature stability . With such spell‐bound applications, their electronic structures are frequently ranging from insulating to metallic and even half metallic along with spin‐polarized electrical conductivity and superconductivity .…”
