Development of Korean Standard Monosyllabic Word Lists for School Aged Children(KS-MWL-S) and Preschoolers(KS-MWL-P)

Abstract: Word recognition test (WRT) for the children can be useful for diagnosing the degree of communication disability, prescribing hearing instruments, planning aural rehabilitation and speech therapy, and determination of site of lesions. It is important to use appropriate testing materials for the different langage developmental levels according to the age. As the Korean monosyllabic word lists for the children were not standardized properly, the purpose of this study was to develop the Korean standard monosyllab… Show more

“…In order to discover the characteristics of the adsorption process in detail, the pseudo-firstorder and pseudo-second-order kinetic models were used to determine the dynamics of the adsorption process. The pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order models can, respectively, be expressed by equations [3] and [4] (25):…”

“…In natural environments, chromium can exist mostly in two stable oxidation states: Cr(III) and Cr(VI). Among these two, hexavalent chromium exerts the most damaging toxic effects on living organisms, being highly soluble and mobile in water (2) (3,4). Cr(VI) used in various industries, including leather tanning, stainless steels production, preparation of pigments and dyes, glass and ceramics, battery, metal electroplating and wood preservation etc (5,6).…”

“…Altogether 30 children between 8 and 11 years of age, native Korean and right-handed, participated in this study. The inclusion criteria common to all groups were as follows: 1) aged between 8 and 11 years, 2) ≤20 dB HL of hearing thresholds at octave frequencies from 250 to 4,000 Hz, and 3) ≥92% word recognition score in quiet from the Korean speech audiometry [19], confirming that each child had no distinct speech-understanding problem in quiet. Among the 30 children, 10 children were typically developing (5 males, 5 females) with no reports of reading, speech and language difficulties (mean age: 9.1 years), 10 children (5 males, 5 females) were identified as having a SSD; (mean age: 9.3 years), and 10 children (5 males, 5 females) had CD; (mean age: 10.3 years) which could be categorized as borderline intellectual functioning.…”
