Researchers at Sumitomo Electric Industries (Japan) has developed a series-connected direct-current (DC) motor, in which liquid nitrogen cooled bismuth strontium calcium copper oxide (BSCCO) pancake field coils are adopted [14]. This motor has been mounted on a middle class passenger car, and an actual running test has been successfully performed.…”
