Development of fertilizer recommendation for the cropping pattern potato-boro-T. aman in irrigated medium highland condition under AEZ -9

Abstract: The experiment was carried out in the Old Brahmaputra Floodplain soil at the farmer's field of Farming System Research and Development (FSRD) site, Kushumhati, Sherpur under Sherpur district in the medium high land under AEZ-9 for the three consecutive years 2003-06 to determine economic combined dose of organic and inorganic fertilizers for Potato-Boro-T.aman cropping pattern. Six treatment management packages including one farmer's practices, and one fertilizer control were tested. The other four treatments … Show more

“…Crop residues integration added some extra nutrient to soil which might have increased the number of tubers hill -1 (Table 3). These results are in agreement with that of Ali et al (2009). They recorded the highest number of tubers hill -1 when nutrient was applied @ N 132 P 27 K 105 S 19 Zn 4 CD 5000 kg ha -1 in potato-Boro rice -T. Aman rice cropping pattern.…”

“…These results are in agreement with that Hossain et al (2008). They stated that maximum tuber weight hill -1 was obtained by using STB nutrient N 147 P 32 K 54 S 18 Zn 4 B 1.02 kg ha -1 fertilizer in potato-fallow-T. Aman rice cropping pattern and Ali et al (2009) recorded the highest number of tuber weight hill -1 when nutrient was applied @ N 132 P 27 K 105 S 19 Zn 4 CD 5000 kg ha -1 in potato-Boro rice -T. Aman rice cropping pattern. Moreover, crop residues were used in the present study while the previous authors did not.…”

“…On the other hand, in this study apparent balance of N was negative in all the treatment and the depletion ranged from -29.0 to -162 kg N ha -1 yr -1 . The result is comparable with potato-boro-T. aman rice systems, the apparent N balance showed negative (-72.9 to -177 kg ha -1 yr -1 ) (Ali et al, 2009b).…”

“…The highest grain yield (3.95 t ha -1 and 3.98 t ha -1 ) was obtained from the treatment T 6 where 25% extra NPK was applied where control treatment produced the lowest grain yield (2.12 t ha -1 and 2.17 t ha -1 ). Ali et al (2009) reported the highest grain yield from soil test value for HYG and lowest from control treatment. Saha et al (2016) also documented higher yield from 20% more than the STB dose in potato-maize-T. Aman cropping pattern of AEZ-3.…”
