Halyomorpha halys is univoltine in eastern Pennsylvania (Nielsen and Hamilton 2009a), whereas this insect is bivoltine in northern Virginia and West Virginia (Leskey et al 2012c). Although degree days are enough for two generations in Pennsylvania, there is a delay that is likely the time required for ovarian development between spring adult activity and oviposition (Nielsen and Hamilton 2009a).…”

“…However, this stink bug was reportedly crossattracted to the male-produced aggregation pheromone of another pentatomid, Plautia stali Scott in its native range, whose males produce methyl (2E,4E,6Z)-decatrienoate (Sugie et al 1996;Tada et al 2001a, b). This pheromone compound and related geometric isomers were tested in the US and verified for their attractiveness to H. halys (Aldrich et al 2007(Aldrich et al , 2009Khriman et al 2008 To enhance the efficacy of the pheromone-baited traps, factors affecting captures were identified (Joseph et al 2013;Leskey et al 2012c;Nielsen et al 2011).
