Development of Analytical Impact Force Models for Floor Impact Vibration and Acoustic Numerical Analysis

Abstract: Apartment houses have been continuously constructed in Korea to solve overcrowding in large cities. The interlayer noise arising from these apartment houses has now become a critical social problem which requires an urgent solution. In recent years, studies applying numerical analysis techniques with respect to the structural type and floor plane have been carried out to effectively reduce the heavy weight impact noise, which is a cause for the interlayer noise. This study proposes analytical impact force mode… Show more

“…Accordingly, in order to analyze noise caused by floor impact sound, the speed of the air particle vibrations occurring due to vibration transfer is the boundary condition of the noise analysis. The precise vibration velocity of structures such as slabs or walls can be computed through the analysis of structural vibration, and the precise analysis of noise can be conducted based on the computed vibration velocity [3,13,14]. Generally, Equation (1) is applied to calculate the structural vibration of the test structure, which is caused by an external impact source (F).…”

“…In these examples, the structures are usually made of thin metal panels and are easily excited to vibrate nonlinearly, and the boundaries of the cavities are Figure 2 shows the general concept of a structural-acoustic model, in which the structural part is in contact with a finite cavity by physical boundaries. The enclosed volume would induce the acoustic resonant behavior, which is normally modeled using the well-known wave equation [1,2,[15][16][17]. This wave equation has been used in numerous applied science/engineering problems for the past few decades.…”
