This research purposes to develop the medical equipment repairing management system in hospitals which is a part ofWepMEt Application (WepMEt-The Web Application for Medical Equipment Management in Hospitals). Work procedure and significant data recording were designed by a group of experts who had experience on the medical equipment management system. This web-based application supports both in-house and contract service. Users can check the maintenance status throughout the procedures. The maintenance order status which indicated by coloring update every 7 days for a fast tracking of pending orders and able to support a decision system by sending maintenance order to technician automatically. Our application provides priority to record all significant information which may lead to new knowledge discovery in medical equipment management. It can control users' access permission in various levels and also link to the spare parts management system, preventive maintenance, and stock system automatically. This module had been tested in an 800 beds hospital in our research project for 6 months, using 2,248 records of medical equipment database from WepMEt program set. Results presented in this study are only some parts of a total data analysis which can be used to improve the quality of maintenance work as well as decrease expenses on maintenance management. It is also useful for spare parts planning and the decision to equipment disposal. These factors are essential for an efficient medical equipment management.

La importancia de las acciones de mantenimiento en el sector de bienes y servicios para garantizar la disponibilidad y confiabilidad necesaria en los activos, ha generado la necesidad de tener herramientas que mejoren la administración de los departamentos de mantenimiento; es por esto que los Sistemas Computarizados para la Gestión del Mantenimiento (CMMS) aparecen para contribuir con la planeación, ejecución y control de las actividades en tales departamentos, haciendo que los datos obtenidos se conviertan en información relevante para la toma de decisiones para mejoramiento continuo. Para la I.U. Pascual Bravo, institución de educación superior con laboratorios para la prestación de servicios educativos y productivos, es fundamental trabajar en la conservación y seguridad de sus activos a través de la gestión del mantenimiento; por esto, se genera la necesidad de desarrollar un CMMS adaptado a las características de los activos de los diferentes laboratorios de la Facultad de Ingeniería, para centralizar la información de mantenimiento. En el presente artículo se revisa la evolución y desarrollo de los CMMS y se describe el diseño y la funcionalidad de SIMA, Sistema de Información de Mantenimiento, aplicación para centralizar la gestión del mantenimiento de los equipos de los laboratorios de la Facultad de Ingeniería. Con este módulo se pretende contribuir con la creación de cultura de mantenimiento, apoyando el correcto registro de la información para optimizar tanto las actividades y los recursos disponibles.

Maintenance management is an orderly and systematic approach for planning, organizing, monitoring, and evaluating maintenance activities and their costs. A good maintenance management system coupled with knowledgeable and capable maintenance staff can prevent health and safety problems and environmental damage; yield longer asset life with fewer breakdowns; and result in lower operating costs and a higher quality of life. The medical equipment maintenance could be either preventive or corrective. The medical equipment management professionals ensure that equipment used in the patients care is operational, safe, and properly configured to meet the mission of the medical treatment facility and continue to function effectively in a good working condition. For example, proper maintenance can extend the life of equipment. This is essential for providing good health services and saving the scarce resources. A comprehensive review on the subject of medical device maintenance management system has been done to give an overview of the development of this system in the hospitals and to shine what could be enhanced and improved in this system to promote the patient healthcare.
