“…However, this method of calculating hydride removal does not account for ion transmission losses that occur when introducing reaction gases at higher flows. 33,35,36,44 To show the utility of NO for 238 U 1 H + interference removal, various concentrations of 239 Pu (0.05−0.5 pg/g) were analyzed in a matrix containing 50−5000 ng/g of 238 U. Table S6 shows the determined concentrations of each solution analyzed, along with the ratio of Pu/U.…”

“…ICP-MS is widely used for actinide (U, Pu, Am) analyses of biological samples 241,246,247,249–270 with calibration methods that rely on an actinide isotope that is absent from the sample, such as 233 U for U isotopes ( 234 U, 235 U, 236 U and 238 U), 242 Pu for Pu isotopes ( 239 Pu, 240 Pu, and 241 Pu) or 243 Am for 241 Am analysis. “…Russell et al demonstrated how ICP-MS/MS could be used for simultaneous measurement of multiple medium and long-lived radionuclides in a single run without prior sample preparation. 171 The method was tested on a range of aqueous samples and solid digests using various exemption limit criteria, which showed that radionuclides with relatively short half-lives, e.g. 63 Ni and 90 Sr, required pre-concentration and separation prior to measurement.…”
