The tools described in the literature include ranking methods utilizing chemical hazard classification (Toxicity Potential Index (TPI) by Nissen (2001), alternative materials assessment by Eisenberg et al (2013), screening tool for environmentally hazardous substances by Ahrens et al (2003), and ecodesign method by Simanovska et al (2012)).
