Development of a Scottish physical activity questionnaire: a tool for use in physical activity interventions.

Abstract: Objectives-Three studies were undertaken to establish the reliability and validity of the Scottish physical activity questionnaire (SPAQ), developed to aid seven day recall of leisure and occupational physical activity. Methods-To establish reliability, SPAQs (n = 34) were completed on a Monday and the following Wednesday. Thus each questionnaire measured four identical days. To establish concurrent validity, 94 participants completed a SPAQ and an adapted stage of exercise behaviour change questionnaire. Resp… Show more

“…We used an statistical test for interaction between the randomised intervention group and the subgroup to directly examine the evidence for the treatment effect of the combined booster groups varying between subgroups. 43,46,47 Subgroup analyses were performed regardless of the statistical significance of the overall intervention effect (booster vs. control). The model below was used to assess the interaction:…”

“…Guidance will include a photograph of how to wear the accelerometer and frequently asked questions, such as whether or not it is necessary to wear it at night in bed when asleep Type of physical activity IPAQ SPAQ IPAQ contains a large section on job-related activity, which is not relevant for the majority of study participants. In addition, SPAQ is shorter and therefore burden on patient significantly reduced but gathers relevant information 135 Quality of life EQ-5D…”
