Development of a novel mobile industrial-scale fluidized adsorption process for emergency treatment of water polluted by aniline: CFD simulation and experiments

Abstract: a b s t r a c tThis study developed a novel mobile industrial-scale fluidized adsorption process and preliminarily explored its application in the emergency water treatment. A lab-based Liquid-Solid Circulating Fluidized Bed (LSCFB) was prepared and the flow pattern was studied by validated computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models. The simulation results revealed that the particular uneven flow structure, which could weaken aniline removal performance, occurred with increasing superficial liquid velocity. Acc… Show more

“…It can be seen that the four radial-flow adsorbers give similar patterns of pressure changes with the order of the value of CF-π>CF-Z>CP-Z>CP-π, indicating that the effect of the flow type on the pressure change in the bed during the radial-flow PSA process is small. In order to compare the gas distribution of the adsorber in the PSA oxygen generator, a maldistribution factor integrating the surface and corresponding velocity, Mf, was introduced as in [27,36].…”

“…In this regard, the centripetal flow mode is much more suitable for PSA oxygen generation. In order to compare the gas distribution of the adsorber in the PSA oxygen generator, a maldistribution factor integrating the surface and corresponding velocity, M f , was introduced as in [27,36].…”

“…This difference may be explained by using different experimental data for the plasticity model calibration. Our model data are based on the experimental data of Hassani [36], while in Razavipour [34], lower values of yield strength are reported as compared to Tong [37] and Meyers [38].…”

“…The objective is to enhance the applicability, accuracy, and precision of models. For instance, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models have been used to simulate fluidized bed adsorption processes, aiming to optimize process efficiency while accounting for subtle impacts [3]. CFD has also been utilized to simulate ammonia removal processes [4] and the hydraulic characteristics of industrial boilers [5].…”
