Abstract:Galactosemia is an inherited disease that occurs as a result of insufficient or no synthesis of some enzymes (GALT, GALK, and GALE) in galactose metabolism. Failure to make an early diagnosis, especially in newborns, can lead to severe clinical and even fatal consequences.
