Abstract. This paper introduces a new K E Tpic-Matlab toolbox to generate L A T E X-embedded high-quality graphical artwork about the main algorithms for Bézier curves and related topics. The package has been implemented by the authors as a supporting middleware tool to generate educational materials for a computer-aided geometric design (CAGD) course at an advanced level (typically a Master/PhD course; even a senior course in some engineering degrees). Its primary goal is to instill geometric intuition in our students and help them develop critical thinking based on geometric reasoning for problem solving. We also aim at providing the instructors of such courses with a computer library to produce high-quality graphics for educational materials with a seamless integration into L A T E X. In this regard, all graphical objects are encoded as plain L A T E X-readable source code that yields nice pictures after standard L A T E X compilation. The application of this package to generate educational materials is discussed through six illustrative examples of interesting properties of the Bézier curves. They show that our package is very easy to use, supports many different graphical options, and fosters students' creative geometric thinking with very little effort.

K E Tpic is a macro package for Computer Algebra System (CAS) to convert plot data created by CAS to L A T E X picture data. We are able to draw fine pictures in L A T E X documents with aid of K E Tpic. At the present stage, K E Tpic packages for Maple, Mathematica, Scilab and Maxima are opened to the public and the number of people who gain benefits of K E Tpic is increasing. However the only way to produce L A T E X picture data is to enter commands on CAS. In order for as many people as possible to use K E Tpic more intuitively, we have started developing a graphical user interface (GUI) for K E Tpic. GUI is implemented by Maplets package of Maple.

K E Tpic is a macro package for Computer Algebra System (CAS) to convert plot data created by CAS to L A T E X picture data. We are able to draw fine pictures including 3D plots in L A T E X documents with aid of K E Tpic. We develop a graphical user interface (GUI) for producing 3D plots by K E Tpic. The GUI is implemented by Maplets package of Maple. Only small amount of input and mouse operation can produce 3D plots by the use of the GUI for K E Tpic. It is expected that the GUI helps many potential users of K E Tpic begin to use K E Tpic.
