Development of a 4-miRNA prognostic signature for endometrial cancer

Abstract: To develop an effective uterine corpus endometrial carcinoma (UCEC) risk assessment tool to monitor treatment outcomes. Limma package was used to analyze differentially expressed microRNAs (miRNAs) between UCEC tissues and normal tissues in the TCGA database. According to univariate Cox risk regression, least absolute shrinkage, and selection operator (LASSO) Cox analysis were performed to screen prognostic miRNAs and construct a risk scoring model. The prognostic performance of signature was evaluated by Kapl… Show more

“…The miR-503 cluster, composed of six miRNAs, has been linked to endometrial endometrioid adenocarcinoma (EEA) (180). A nomogram based on age, clinical stage, and risk score calculated using a 4-miRNA signature showed high accuracy in predicting the overall survival of EC patients (181). A panel of 11 miRNAs effectively differentiated between ovarian and uterine serous carcinoma with 91.5% accuracy (182), and a 6-microRNA expression signature was established as a predictor for EC patient survival (183).…”

“…Wang et al [ 90 ] showed the signature of six miRNAs: hsa-mir-142.MIMAT0000433, hsa-mir-15a.MIMAT0000068, hsa-mir-3170.MIMAT0015045, hsa-mir-142.MIMAT0000434, hsa-mir-146a.MIMAT0000449, and hsa-mir-1976.MIMAT0009451 strongly correlated with the overall survival of patients with endometrial cancer [ 90 ]. Huang et al [ 91 ] identified four miRNAs that are prognostic markers of patients with endometrial cancer: miR-34a-5p, miR-31-5p, miR-4772-3p, and miR-26a-1-3p [ 91 ]. Wu et al [ 92 ] also created a model consisting of four miRNAs: miR-4758, miR-142, miR-876, miR-190b, enabling survival prognostication of patients with endometrial cancer [ 92 ].…”
