“…FL detection is more selective and sensitive as compared to UV and may be as effective as mass spectrometric methods in biological fluid samples containing very low amounts of drug ( 73 , 74 ). Although the instrument is relatively sophisticated and expensive, mass spectrometric detection provides a high-throughput analysis of large sample batches even without preconcentration with repeatable results since most of the drug substances do not have enough double bonds or functional groups to exhibit FL ( 75 , 76 ). Solvent consumption could be reduced by downscaling conventional PP, LLE and SPE ( 57 ).…”

“…SPE methods coupled to LC has been widely applied to analyze a wide range of compounds present in biological matrices [76][77][78][79][80][81]. As an example, Caglar et al [82] developed a multidimensional-SPE method for on-line clean-up and subsequent LC-MS/MS analysis of Tetrandrine, a bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloid isolated from the dried root of Stephania tetrandra S. Moore, in blood samples. According to this methodology, for the first LC dimension a LiChrospher R ADS RP 4 RAM SPE-column (20 mm × 2 mm, 25 m) was used to obtain size-exclusion of the large molecules while a second LC dimension with an OASIS R MCX SPE-column (10 mm × 2 mm) provided a size-selective fractionation.…”

“…In attempt to study the pharmacokinetics and tissue distribution of DNR and Tet in rats, a sensitive and reliable liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry method (LC-MS/MS) was developed and validated for the quantification of DNR and Tet in rat plasma or tissues. [13][14][15][16]…”
