Development and Validation of a Spectrometric Method for Cd and Pb Determination in Zeolites and Safety Evaluation

Abstract: An analytical method based on microwave-assisted acid digestion and atomic absorption spectrometry with graphite furnace as atomization source was developed and validated for determining trace elements (Cd and Pb) in zeolites used as dietary supplements, for their characterization and safety evaluation. The method was checked for the main performance parameters according to the legislation requirements in the field of dietary supplements. In all cases, the obtained performance parameters were satisfactory. The… Show more

“…The element concentrations in beer were determined after microwave wet acid digestion (HNO 3 : H 2 O 2 , 3:1, v:v ) [ 25 ]. The concentrations of major minerals were analyzed by ICP-OES, while trace elements in beer were measured by GFAAS [ 33 ]. Alcoholic concentration, original extract, real and apparent extract were measured with the FermentoStar analyzer type 3572 (Germany).…”

“…The formula utilized in this context is based on the notion that the LOD, or critical value, signifies when a quantified value diverges statistically from the empty measurement with a 95% confidence level. A factor of 3 guarantees that the LOD is adequately elevated above the noise level to enable dependable detection [53,54]. Particularly in fields where detecting low concentrations of analytes is frequently critical, such as food safety testing, clinical diagnostics, and environmental monitoring, this calculation is indispensable for ensuring the precision and dependability of analytical measurements.…”

“…El desempeño del método se evaluó mediante la prueba de selectividad, que consistió en aplicar la prueba del efecto matriz (Senila et al, 2020, Miller y Miller, 2002. Se compararon las pendientes de tres curvas de calibración elaboradas a partir de estándares puros y tres curvas de calibración de los estándares en las muestras de suelo.…”
