“…The positive effect of low pH on the efficiency of P-PO 4 sorption was also observed in a study on the removal of orthophosphates on chitosan-based sorbents [ 29 , 30 ]. In turn, a high nitrate binding efficiency at low pH was observed for sorbents such as clay [ 31 ], activated carbon [ 32 , 33 ], and Dioscorea alata L. biomass [ 34 ].…”

“…The correlation coefficients shown in Table 2 indicate that the Na-Kc-BB9 systems can be described by Langmuir isotherm given the higher correlation coefficient R 2 (0.91) and lowest value of χ 2 . The good correlation with the Langmuir model assumes the formation of a monolayer on the surface of the adsorbent, all the adsorption sites are almost equivalent and therefore isoenergetic (Lekene et al 2021;Tabi et al 2022b;Tchanang et al 2022). The parameter 1/n provides information on the adsorption intensity and also indicates the relative distribution of energetic sites for adsorption and depends on both the nature and strength of the adsorption process.…”

“…The validity of the different aforementioned models was evaluated using correlation coefficient (R 2 ), root mean square error (RMSE) and Chi-square test (χ 2 ) [45]. The respective relations are given below:…”

“…Linear methods have been proven to have significant limitation related to the linearized form of isotherms/kinetics equations by producing a vast number of different outcomes, which implicitly alter the error structure, violates the error variance and normality assumptions of standard least squares leading to the bias of the adsorption data [25] [44] [45] [46]. Due to the inherent bias from linearization, the non-linear regression will be used in this work to provide a mathematically rigorous method for determining the isotherm/kinetic parameters using the original form of the equations [44] [45].…”
