Development and efficacy evaluation of hair care formulations containing vegetable oils and silicone

Abstract: Considering the growing interest and consumption of hair care products, given that Brazil is the third world market for personal hygiene, perfumery and cosmetics and the second world market for hair cosmetics, 2 the Research and Development of innovative and effective products is of fundamental importance. Thus, there is a growing interest in researches that evaluates the hair damage caused by environment and chemical treatments, as well as the development of formulations that meets the consumer's needs. 3,4 P… Show more

“…The results showed statistical differences between C and H5 (P < 0.0009), H3 (P < 0.02) and H6 (P < 0.04) adding a higher concentration of antistatic agents to the formulation because it decreases the combing force. 9,15 Tensile Test The results showed that different treatments were able to increase the hair fiber resistance when compared to the control since the maximum force required to break the hair fiber was higher ( Figure 7). Hair samples treated with shampoo added with hydrolyzed rice peptides, regardless of the conditioner used, had a significant difference (P < 0.05) in the force required to break the hair fiber when compared to the control.…”

“…As an ideal oil conditioner for hair, silicone oil has been widely used in hair products due its outstanding properties, such as stable chemical properties [10], low surface tension, non-toxicity, smoothness, water retention, and low price. In addition, the silicone oil and cationic polymers in the shampoo will be absorbed and accumulated on the hair surface to form a protective film and further adhere to the crevices of the hair scales during the hair care process.…”
