“…Hence, prewetting of coal is required. Water injection in coal seam has the advantages of prewetting and reducing the coal particles despite the wetting effect is not obvious. Several kinds of methods to upgrade the wettability has been around for ages, consequently, including adding chemical agents to the solution to reduce the contact angle and the hydrophobicity of coal. At present, surfactants as water injection additives have been extensively discussed and applied in coal mines, which are compelling importance to the prevention and control of dust.…”

“…Surfactants, imidazole ionic liquids, and acidizing modification perform well in increasing the wettability of coal. However, these technologies generally face problems including a complex process, high cost, and environmentally unfriendly nature, which make these technologies difficult to be applied in mining fields of coal mines. Therefore, it is an urgent demand to develop an environmentally friendly wetting agent with a good wetting effect, a simple preparation process, and low cost.…”

“…Furthermore, Li and Li analyzed the influence of functional groups on the coal wettability by infrared spectroscopy experiments and indicated that oxygen-containing functional groups can effectively improve the hydrophilicity of coal. In addition, many studies have shown that the addition of surfactants can reduce the surface tension of the solution and thus improve the wetting effect of coal seam water injection. , …”

“…In addition, many studies have shown that the addition of surfactants can reduce the surface tension of the solution and thus improve the wetting effect of coal seam water injection. 9,10 It is well known that the contact angle is a significant index to characterize the wetting properties of coal samples. However, it should be noted that the contact angle is actually a three-phase (solid, liquid, and gas) contact angle.…”
