The importance of grammar in L2 learners’ development of language skills has anchored for the necessity of teaching grammar to learners of English. However, it is observed that there has been insufficient formal data relevant to the needs of L2 learners for learning grammar, particularly in the context of Vietnam. These two mentioned reasons motivate this current study into the needs of students at a university in Vietnam for learning English grammar with a hope to help teachers and curriculum designers make more informed decisions on their teaching methods and the content of the grammar course, respectively. In the study, students had difficulties with certain English grammatical points such as Linking words and phrases, Tenses to describe events in the past, Articles, determiners and pronouns. Students also expected their grammar lessons to be more interactive with writing and speaking practice included, while formal explanations of grammatical structures be maintained.

MyARTS, an interactive grammar mobile game is exclusively designed according to the Theory of Variation (ToV). The game provides a variety of exercises to expose learners to different aspects of learning. The study is to examine the elements that support the design of the questions in the digital game. A qualitative content analysis was used in illuminating the elements from the theory that support the game and quantitative pre-and post-tests to see the impact of the game on learners. The features in the ToV guiding the game's tasks help learners to discern and remember the usage of articles. In MI Kebokicak, teaching learning still used the usual method without media and was still lack of facilities and infrastructure. Eventhough learning media was eded to facilitate teachers in transferring knowledge and making it easier for students to understand English material. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to develop Grammar Book based on Games to help fifth grade students at MI Kebokicak. The research method used was Research and Development, this development used ADDIE learning model which consisted of five steps, those were: 1) Analyze, 2) Design, 3) Development, 4) Implementation, and 5) Evaluation. The results of this assessment indicated that the Grammar Book based on Games media had “very good” feasibility, according to media expert getting an average of 83.33 and material expert 73.33. Subject of this research was students of fifth grade students at MI Kebokicak Jombang. The students responses of try out result 84.8 which that meant this learning mediagood category. It can be concludeammar Book based on Games feasible was ready to use.
