In terms of regaining self-esteem, work appears to be particularly helpful (Dunn et al, 2008;Sung et al, 2006;Kennedy-Jones et al, 2005;Liu et al, 2007;Marwaha et al, 2005), as can secure housing (Browne & Courtney, 2005a).
