Developing a Multifunctional Silk Fabric with Dual-Driven Heating and Rapid Photothermal Antibacterial Abilities Using High-Yield MXene Dispersions

Abstract: Two-dimensional material titanium carbide (Ti3C2T x MXene) has been widely used for building diverse functional materials; however, the disadvantages of unsatisfactory yield and low concentration during the preparation process generally limit its large-scale promotion. In the present work, an MXene dispersion with enhanced yield (90%), high concentration (45 mg/mL), and excellent dispersibility was successfully prepared. Subsequently, the active MXene nanosheets were effectively in situ deposition onto the si… Show more

“…Since MXenes with layered structures exhibit unique surface chemical properties and comparable electrical conductivity to metals, they have been widely applied for fabricating flexible smart fabrics through dip coating and spray coating approaches [ 157 , 158 ]. Yan et al [ 45 ] reported the preparation of MXenes-decorated silk fabric with satisfying UV protection performance, electrothermal conversion capability and photothermal antibacterial property through in-situ dip-coating Ti 3 C 2 T x nanosheets onto silk fabric (Fig. 13 a).…”

“…The common PTAs include metal and metal oxide/sulfide nanoparticles (e.g., Au, Cu, MoS 2 ), carbon nanoparticles (e.g., CNT, rGO), and conjugated polymers (e.g., polyaniline (PANI), polydopamine (PDA)) 102–110 . For example, a multifunctional silk fabric deposited with titanium carbide (Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene) was fabricated using dip‐coating, which demonstrated rapid photothermal antibacterial activity against E. coli with 20 min of light irradiation 111 . Combining with other antibacterial strategies, such as antibiotic, inorganic antibacterial agents, PDAT, etc., a synergistic antibacterial effect can be achieved 112–115 .…”

“…Antibacterial cellulose-based composites were developed via the incorporation of nanoparticle suspensions, plant extracts, and other polymers . Additionally, Yan et al imparted fast and efficient photothermal antibacterial properties to textiles by coating MXene nanosheets. , More recently, researchers have paid more attention to some sulfides, such as ZnS and CuS, due to their unique light-to-heat conversion performance. , As a low-cost photothermal semiconductor material, copper sulfide nanoparticles (CuSNPs) have a wide range of absorption characteristics in the near-infrared region and have been widely used in various fields, including photothermal therapy, , photocatalytic degradation, wastewater treatment, and energy storage of supercapacitors, to name a few. CuSNPs can be easily synthesized by means of a reflux condensation method, a hydrothermal method and a thermal decomposition method .…”
