Developed watershed classification index determining management priority level based on watershed carrying capacity

Abstract: Watershed classification index is important in terms of determining watershed management priority level based on its carrying capacity score whereby currently watershed is classified into two indexes which are “to be maintained” if the carrying capacity score is below 100 and “to be restored” if it is above 100. This index fails to capture existing condition where there are watersheds with carrying capacity score in between 90 and 110. The purpose of this paper is to propose developed watershed classification … Show more

“…Implementing watershed management programs in Indonesia involves significant financial, human resource, multi-sectoral stakeholder, and central or regional government commitment [62]. Therefore, it requires prioritization that aims to recognize the most appropriate watershed for more operative strategies [63,64].…”

“…The management performance of a watershed is determined by several indicators and criteria as characteristics of a watershed. One that plays a very important role in determining watershed performance is the condition of the land (Sriyana, 2019;Sudia et al, 2023). Land conditions are a dynamic characteristic, always changing along with the influence of human activities within a watershed (Setyowati et al, 2021).…”

“…Land conditions are a dynamic characteristic, always changing along with the influence of human activities within a watershed (Setyowati et al, 2021). Determination of watershed management performance by monitoring the carrying capacity of land in several watersheds in Indonesia has been widely carried out in order to determine the classification of watershed management performance carrying capacity with the status of each parameter varying from bad to good management status (Sriyana, 2019;Supangat and Wahyuningrum, 2021).…”
