“…In the SKALA in-reactor monitoring system, the critical power of fuel assemblies was calculated using a relation that neglected the form of the axial distribution of the power release blies depends strongly on the form of the axial distribution of the power release, and for this reason for this reactor the measurement means were improved, detailed methods of calculating the axial power release distribution were derived and methods for calculating the critical power of fuel assemblies were improved [12,13]. Similar changes in the calculations of the critical power of fuel assemblies were also made in the algorithms used in the SKALA-mikro information and measurement system in RBMK-1000 to increase accuracy.…”

“…During the time that RBMK-1500 operated, there were no programs for performing a three-dimensional neutronphysical calculation that were required to accurately reconstruct the axial distribution of the power release. For this reason, a semiempirical method of reconstruction based on a harmonic expansion of the axial distribution of the thermal neutron flux density was used for this purpose [12]. Subsequently, a computational and experimental procedure using a three-dimensional neutron-physical calculation started to be used in the SKALA-mikro informational and measurement system to reconstruct the axial distribution of the power release, but the need to continually use the semiempirical procedure to correct the results in the period between successive calculations remained.…”
