Determining the priorities in utilization of forest residues as biomass: an A'wot analysis

Abstract: The gap between global energy production and consumption is increasing at a fast pace along with population growth, industrialization, and technological developments, resulting in a rapid increase in the need for energy. This has led countries to use their own resources more effectively. Consequently, in addition to existing energy sources, alternative solutions are now being sought for this problem via renewable resources such as biomass energy production. As forest resources are abundantly available in Turke… Show more

“…Identifying the relevant strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats is conducive to more efficient policy planning and action. In the area of policy planning, SWOT analysis has been recently used to (i) find strategies toward a sustainable forest-based bioeconomy in Italy (Falcone et al, 2020), (ii) formulate solutions for edible oil waste from farm to table in Iran (Salmani et al, 2021), and (iii) study the utilization of forest residues as biomass in Turkey (Kurt, 2020).…”

“…The final stage of Analytical Hierarchy Process in this procedure is to find the product of importance weights of criteria and alternatives, and to determine the priority value for each alternative. Consequently, the alternative with the highest value is the best alternative for the problem (Toksarı, 2007;Imren et al, 2016;Imren et al, 2017;Kurt, 2020).…”

“…Ormancılık faaliyetleri sonucunda geri dönüştürülebilen ya da yeniden kullanılabilen önemli miktarda atık ortaya çıkmaktadır. Son on yıllarda bu atıkların kullanılabilir ürünlere dönüştürülmesine yönelik farklı araştırmalar mevcuttur (Clausen, 2000;Khedari vd., 2004; Dos Santos vd., 2014; Kurt, 2020).…”
