Determination of the zeolite and silicate content in detergent products by wavelength-dispersive x-ray fluorescence spectrometry

Abstract: A method was developed for the determination of zeolite and silicate in detergent products and raw materials by wavelength‐dispersive x‐ray fluorescence (WDXRF) spectrometry. Al, Si and Na were measured after fusion of the sample with a mixture of lithium tetra‐ and metaborate. The influence of the fusion conditions, the stability of the glass beads and calibrations using practical and calculated α values were studied. The WDXRF method was validated by analysing laundry detergent products and zeolite and sodiu… Show more

“…32 With the above background, it is urgent to develop novel and simple environmentally friendly techniques to recycle and transform the spent LIBs and apply the converted materials to environmental governance to realize the transformation from "trash to treasure". As a critical material class, zeolite plays vital roles in various industrial processes, such as oil refinery catalyst, 33 membrane materials, 34,35 laundry detergent, 36,37 medical loading substance, 38,39 etc. Among all of the different elements used in zeolite synthesis, alkaline cations are frequently employed as counter cations to balance the framework charges, while Si, Al, P, and O are usually used to construct the zeolitic framework.…”
