Determination of the tide constituents at Livingston and Deception Islands (South Shetland Islands, Antarctica), using annual time series

Abstract: A detailed study is presented of the tidal constituents for Livingston and Deception Islands (Antarctica) obtained at the LIVMAR and DECMAR tide gauge stations. Data were acquired with tide gauge pressure sensors, and calculated from a long time series of 798 days of data-logging, using the least-squares harmonic estimation method. The results show an improvement over previous results in the region. Seventy tidal constituents were obtained, of which 19 were the most representative with amplitudes greater than … Show more

“…The TGBMs are linked to altimetric geodetic vertices of the official geodetic networks of Peru, which have been established and are under the responsibility of the IGN. The altimeter geo-referencing has been carried out according to the specifications of UNESCO (1994), very similar to the criteria stated by Jigena et al (2015aJigena et al ( , 2015bJigena et al ( , 2018.…”

“…Hünicke and Zorita, 2016;Andersen and Piccioni, 2016;Orejarena-Rondón et al, 2019;Lan et al, 2021), in many countries there are insufficient long-term sea level records to allow comprehensive and predictive studies to be made. In the majority of the cases, and especially in areas of difficult access and in developing countries, the data have only been taken during the summer season, or for specific projects, and, generally, the data are taken over a year or less duration (Muñoz-Perez and Abarca, 2009;Jigena et al, 2015aJigena et al, , 2015b.…”

“…El resultado del ajuste entre los datos reales y los datos predichos es de un 99.3%, que es un parámetro excelente y muy representativo para realizar predicciones en base a los datos obtenidos y utilizados en el análisis. Los resultados obtenidos en amplitud y desfase de las principales componentes de marea en ambas estaciones se muestran en la Tabla 6 y mayores detalles se pueden consultar en Jigena et al (2015).…”
