Determination of the optimal penetration factor for evaluating the invasion process of aerosols from a confined source space to an uncontaminated area

Abstract: An optimal penetration factor was proposed. • Penetration mechanism was further explored. • The inevitability of particles detaching and re-entering after capture was proved. • Time correction under current experimental conditions is of little significance.

“…These studies were conducted in Iran (n = 3), USA (n = 2), China (n = 1), Spain (n = 1), Singapore (n = 1), Philadelphia (n = 1), Korea (n = 1) and Italy (n = 1). Of the 14 records, three studies examined the main hypothesis of the present SR based on the simulation method ( WANG and YONEDA, 2020 , BUONANNO et al, 2020 , VUORINEN et al, 2020 ). These studies were conducted in Japan (n = 1), Italy (n = 1), and Finland (n = 1).…”

“…Therefore, environmental researchers have also been focusing on evaluating the persistence and transmission of this virus in the environment and the environmental factors affecting its fate. As detailed in above sections, researchers have been raising concerns for the environmental transmission of this virus through air (Morawska and Cao 2020 ; Wang and Yoneda 2020 ) and wastewater (Cahill and Morris 2020 ; Romano-Bertrand et al 2020 ; Usman et al 2020b ). Transmission dynamics of this virus can be affected by the characteristics of the ambient environment.…”

“…Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID- 19), which is zoonotic in origin and most commonly spread through respiratory droplets or aerosol transmission, has caused a big threat to mankind. 1 The disease was originated in the seafood market of Wuhan, Hubei, China, in early December 2019 with clinical presentations greatly resembling viral pneumonia. 2 This disease has affected most of the countries in the period of 2 months itself.…”
