“…The adsorption peaks at 717, 1465, and 2850–2950 cm −1 due to the vibration of CH 2 group are observed in the spectra of the two samples . In spectrum a, peaks at 617 and 1267 cm −1 are due to the stretching and bending vibration of CCl bond, respectively, reflecting the attachment of the CPVC initiator layer; in spectrum b, peaks at 2247 cm −1 are assigned to the CN groups of the polyacrylonitrile, indicating the formation of polymer brushes. Moreover, scanning electron microscopy was used to image and compare the polymer brush–grafted surface to the bare and initiator layer deposited surface (Figure S2, Supporting Information), further confirming the successful growth of polymer brushes on silicon substrates.…”
